I moved to Burton upon Trent in 1980 from my native Liverpool to work as an assistant solicitor with Drewry & Newbold.
The firm later became part of Smith Partnership so when I took up my present position in January 2017, I returned to the very office where I started my career 37 years earlier!
In the interim period, I was a sole practitioner for many years before merging my practice with another small firm in Burton becoming one of three partners in OMW Solicitors where I was Head of Private Client, specialising in residential and commercial property.
In 2012 following a merger with a larger firm in Burton, I became a Director and Head of Residential Conveyancing.
I am a highly experienced senior Solicitor dealing with all aspects of residential conveyancing including new builds, plot sales, remortgages, including equity release transactions, leasehold flats and apartments, Help to Buy and shared ownership cases. I also have experience in commercial property transactions including leases.
Beyond the office, I share my home with Bullseye, my Jack Russell Terrier who, (like me, I hope) is elderly and loveable but not as fit as he was. I am a keen bridge player, playing for the Derbyshire County Team and I love professional cycling having travelled abroad to watch stages of the Tours of France, Italy and Spain.
I have been closely involved in the Derby & District Law Society for many years having served as Secretary and Treasurer and in 2006/7 I was very proud to have been the President. I remain on the Committee and am a member of the Property Sub-Committee. I love good food and wine and having only started travelling beyond France and Spain comparatively recently, I am now working my way through a list of destinations I want to visit. Cuba and Laos are my favourites so far but I haven’t been to Antarctica yet…
