I am a Partner at Smith Partnership’s Derby offices and after previously working in a Nottingham law firm, I joined the Commercial Property Department at Smith Partnership in 1992. Throughout the years I have had the pleasure of watching it grow from a two man department – consisting of myself and Peter Smith – to a team consisting of three Partners. This includes an Associate and a Solicitor all backed up by a large support team which has made it one of the biggest teams in Derby!
After ten enjoyable years as part of the team, I was named the Head of the Commercial Property Department in 2012 when Peter became a Consultant.
As head of the department I work across a large scope of property transaction which include; freehold acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant work, commercial and residential development work, secured lending work for banks as well as transactions in the healthcare sector.
Since taking up this role, I have dealt with a number of high-profile cases including a transaction which you could say was high-octane! This involved working with a business who manufacture innovative carbon components for Formula One racing teams. I acted on behalf of the company for the acquisition of land on which they had plans to construct a new factory.
This job role often sees me work beyond Derby, meeting with clients from all over the country. Another large-scale transaction came when I was approached by a high-profile eyewear manufacturer to act on their behalf in securing a distinguished establishment on Sloane Street, London.
Outside of the office I am married with a Son who naturally take up all of my spare time.
