Summit Success – Derby Success

Last week, over 350 delegates from the UK property and investment sector attended the iPro Stadium for the annual Derby Property Summit, hosted by Smith Partnership and Marketing Derby. Following £3billion investment to the city in the last decade, delegates gathered to hear about the next wave of opportunities.

Smith Partnership, one of largest firms of solicitors in the East Midlands based in Derby, is an ambitious thriving company that see the benefits of partnering with Marketing Derby, not only as a proud bondholder, but to be a partner for its 2016 programme of investor events, in order to raise the profile of the City.

The event had three key speakers, with broadcaster and journalist Declan Curry acting as MC throughout:
• John Forkin, Managing Director of Marketing Derby, spoke about Thinking Global, Acting Local.
• Courtney Fingar, Editor-in-Chief of fDi Magazine presented his view on Brexit: Be Careful What You Wish For? Talking about the implications on inward investment by the EU referendum.
• Christine Durrant, Derby City Council's Strategic Director of Communities and Place, highlighted new sites coming into the market as part of the new city centre masterplan.

This was followed by a professional Q&A session, where Smith Partnership's Russell Davies, Partner and Head of Commercial Litigation accepted the invitation from Marketing Derby to be on the panel to discuss Regeneration in a Global World.

Claire Twells, the Business Development Partner at Smith Partnership said: “Marketing Derby were again fantastic hosts for the Derby Property Summit, it really is amazing how far Derby has come as a city, Derby is a great place to be at the moment in terms of commercial because the city is on the up.

“Marketing Derby is an invaluable asset to the City and we are delighted to be a bondholder and event partner. Derby is a great place to live and work, and we believe this has a lot to do with the work of Marketing Derby, by continually promoting the City in order to support and attract new investment!”
