Smith Partnership raises £500 for Sight Support Derbyshire

Smith Partnership, one of largest firms of solicitors in the East Midlands, held its annual employee duck decorating competition in aid of Sight Support Derbyshire last week; in the run up to the Ey Up Mi Duck Race on Saturday 20th May – with some quacking results!

The joint winners of its annual employee duck decorating competition were Beauty and the Beak, created by Joanne Hawkins in the Personal Injury team and Duck Stake created by Matt Taylor in the Accounts team. The imaginative designs represented a spookey Count Dracula inspired duck and the other with half its body dressed as Belle and the other half as the beast from the block-buster Disney film.

In June 2011, Smith Partnership were proud to have become an ‘Approved Provider’ to Sight Support Derbyshire, a charity that is dedicated to improving the lives of people with sight loss. This approval was achieved by training its staff in how to provide quality services to people with a visual impairment.

The training included learning about eye conditions and the impact of sight loss and how to meet, greet and support someone with a visual impairment together with tuition on how staff can deal with legal issues for clients with a visual impairment.

Victoria Booth, Marketing Manager at Smith Partnership said: “Every year our duck decorating competition becomes more elaborate and this year was even bigger and better! As the entries were so impressive, we just couldn’t choose an out-right winner this year, so we had two winners, Joanne and Matt who both received Love2shop vouchers.

“Our partnership with Sight Support Derbyshire grows from strength to strength each year and we were proud to have been involved in the race again this year, raising £500 for their vital work!”

The ducks raced down the river on Saturday 20th May, where spectators got to cheer on their favourite duck at Cathedral Green.  Smith Partnership were proud to donate the £250 prize for the Winning Little Duck - J Beattie.
