Ladies welcome EVERY CLOUD as Official Charity for Women in Business!

In its third successful year, the Chamber of Commerce and its three event partners were delighted to host 60 business women at their Women in Business Summer seminar on 5th July at Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel, and officially welcome their new charity for the next 12 months Derby based EVERY CLOUD!

Women in Business partner, Claire Twells, Business Development Partner at Smith Partnership Solicitors said: "We are delighted to be a Women in Business partner, offering a programme of vibrant professional activities to inspire and support all working women, whether you run your own business or have a key role in a larger business."

The Women in Business partnership team were delighted to officially welcome their new charity for 2016 – Every Cloud, who raise money to buy special gifts for people who are undergoing breast Cancer treatment. One of the founders of Every Cloud Jude Weston spoke to the ladies at the event about this amazing charity and to share their stories.

Jude Weston said: "We were thrilled to have been chosen by the ladies at the last event as their official charity for the year ahead. Every penny we raise makes a huge difference to the wellbeing of people who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer, giving them a well-deserved treat. It could be towards a family meal or holiday – creating joyful moments in a very difficult period of their life."

Claire Twells continued: "Our professional trainer Martin Perry provided some fantastic insight and practical advice to our ladies to help manage their precious time more carefully when facing 100’s of emails each day – helping them to tame their inboxes.

"The Summer event was a great success and we hope our next evening event on 6th October will attract over 100 ladies to hear co-founder of Green & Black’s chocolate, and successful entrepreneur, Josephine Fairley speak about her career."

Professional trainer Martin Perry from offered a cohesive strategy for managing an email inbox.

He said

"I offered some very simple changes to the way the delegates think about, and use email, that can reduce the amount of time they spend each day dealing with the constant flurry of emails hitting their Inbox. The session created a real buzz in the room and the ladies seemed to understand that they can manage their inboxes more effectively and be in control!"

The Chamber of Commerce has been working closely with the Women in Business partners, Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel, Smith Partnership Solicitors and FCM Associates since 2014, when the programme first launched on International Women’s Day.

Special thanks must also go to our new sponsor in 2016 Stratstone MINI Derby offering one lucky lady the chance to win free MINI hire for a week! The delegates just have to put their business card in a bowl to be in with a chance to be picked in the FREE draw.

The winner at this event was Sally Sheen Managing Director at Success Through Change Ltd – congratulations!
