Employee’s Getting Wrapped up for the YMCA Sleep Easy 2017

Employee’s Getting Wrapped up for the YMCA Sleep Easy 2017

Smith Partnership delighted to announce it has a number of employees taking part in the Derby YMCA Sleep Easy 2017, on Friday 31st March at the 3aaa County Ground, Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

The brave volunteers will be joining the Sleep Easy 2017 campaign, which is a YMCA fundraising initiative to help change the lives of vulnerable young people in the region.

Our volunteers are:

  • Rebecca Reid, Solicitor in the Employment Department along with her younger brother and
  • James Johnson, Partner in the Employment Department

James Johnson said: “We are all very excited to be involved in the Sleep Easy, although we know it will be a very tough challenge, but it will be worth it to understand how homeless people feel every night. We hope the experience will raise thousands of pounds for the YMCA to help people get off the streets and build a new life in our region.”

Where does the money go?
All the money raised from YMCA Derbyshire’s Sleep Easy event goes towards the Safe Front Door Campaign. This campaign enables YMCA Derbyshire to continue providing safe accommodation, opportunities for young people to engage in positive activities, work experience and volunteer opportunities.

As a result of 80 people sleeping rough last year YMCA Derbyshire has;
– Provided 151 beds each night
– Accommodated 299 people (increase of 88 people from previous year)

We are proud to report within 12 months:
– 72% of residents moved on to live independently
– 21% returned to live with family/friends.
– 47% are already in employment, training or volunteer posts.
