Della Phillips has recently achieved the Law Society’s Children Law accreditation

We are delighted to announce that Della Phillips has recently achieved the Law Society’s Children Law accreditation.

Della is a family and child care solicitor based at our Leicester branch office. She qualified as a solicitor in 2009 having completed her training contract with Smith Partnership. Della undertakes all aspects of children work including representing parents and extended family members in both care proceedings and in private law proceedings.

The Law Society’s Children Law accreditation is the quality mark for legal professionals working in child-related law. Legal professionals undergo a rigorous process to get accredited, including demonstrating superior experience, knowledge and best practice.

To achieve the accreditation, Della was required to complete a written application and was then invited to attend a formal interview at the Law Society in London where she was asked a number of questions by two very experienced children law accredited solicitors.

Having been successful in her application, Della can now represent children at court and in care proceedings through the instructions of their Children’s Guardian from CAFCASS.

Speaking about her achievement, Della said “The written application was difficult and takes a great deal of preparation. The interview was fairly nerve-racking although I was supported fully by my colleagues throughout the process which was a great help.”

Della’s accreditation means that Smith Partnership now have 7 children accredited specialist solicitors based over 3 offices in Derby, Burton upon Trent and Leicester.
