

Smith Partnership, one of the Midlands’ leading regional law firms, has promoted three senior members of the firm’s expanding Commercial department to Partner and Associate levels.
Rachel McCahill-Brown, who is Head of Business and Personal Insolvency, has been promoted to Partner. Louise Haward of the Employment Team and Rashid Ali who works in Commercial Property, have been promoted to Associates.
Rachel McCahill-Brown joined the Firm in 2009 and has more than twelve years experience in the legal profession as an insolvency solicitor. She has extensive knowledge of insolvency law, advising on all aspects of insolvency-related matters for both insolvency practitioners, financial institutions and corporate and private clients in relation to contentious and non-contentious insolvency, personal and corporate insolvency, business restructure and turnaround. Rachel also advises directors, owners of businesses and banks in relation to security issues and personal guarantees.
Louise Haward joined Smith Partnership in 2010, having previously practised with a national firm in the West Midlands before relocating back to the East Midlands where she grew up. She has substantial experience in advising employer clients on all aspects of employment and HR matters including disciplinary and grievance procedures as well as drafting contracts and policies. Louise also has particular experience and specialism in bringing and defending Employment Tribunal Proceedings especially discrimination claims.
There has also been an Associate promotion for Rashid Ali, one of the firms’ Property Specialists. He joined Smith Partnership in 2007 and has over 12 years legal experience in advising major corporate and private clients. Rashid specialises and advises on a wide range of commercial property transactions, including complex freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters, development opportunities, refinancing and the property aspects of corporate transactions.
