Smith Partnership welcomes four new trainee solicitors

Leading Midlands law firm Smith Partnership has, despite the economic downturn, recently expanded its successful programme for training solicitors by taking on four new trainees Jak Ward, Sarah Norton, Mark Wilcock and James Lee.

All four trainees have recently completed their Legal Practice Courses at Nottingham Law School and James Lee has worked with Smith Partnership previously for two years as a Legal Clerk.

The programme run by Smith Partnership provides trainees with all the practical experience they require to become successful solicitors. The trainees typically spend up to six months in a range of different departments across the firm which include Company and Commercial, Commercial Property, Personal Injury, Employment, Probate, Family Law and Crime. The Trainees work alongside solicitors who have extensive experience in both private and publicly funded sectors and their training is supervised by Dave Clark and Jo Backhouse, both partners within the Firm.

David Clark added “I am very pleased to welcome Jak, Sarah, Mark and James to Smith Partnership and I am confident that they will benefit enormously from the thorough training they will receive from us. At the outset of the training programme we sit down with each trainee individually, to discuss in detail their career plans so that we can assist them in achieving their goals by designing a training programme around their personal strengths and attributes. This in turn increases the prospects of us being able to find a suitable position within the firm for each trainee when they qualify and this approach is reflected in the very high proportion of our trainees that we manage to retain as solicitors.”

Tara Woolley and Elizabeth Mills have both recently completed their training with Smith Partnership and are now working for the firm as qualified solicitors in the Commercial Property and Company and Commercial Departments.
