Jo Backhouse graduated from the University of Leicester and Nottingham Law School and trained at Nottingham City Council. She joined Smith Partnership in 2004 where she is a specialist in landlord and tenant work and deals mainly with volume business leases for plc clients.
Fraser Cunningham, a former professional musician, graduated from the University of Derby and Nottingham Law School and joined Smith Partnership in 2000 where he handles a wide range of commercial matters including both data protection and intellectual property.
James Johnson, who is Head of the Employment team joined Smith Partnership in 2005, having previously practised within a national firm. He has a particular interest and specialism in defending Employment Tribunal Proceedings and also being involved in the employment aspects of commercial transactions, including advising on the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006.
There has also been an Associate promotion for Claire Twells, one of the firms' Debt Recovery Specialists. Claire joined the firm in 2007 and leads the Debt Recovery team in Derby, acting for clients both nationally and internationally. She is also our Residential Landlord and Tenant Specialist and can assist on residential property disputes, including remedies for tenant defaults.
